Microbes can live and grow in the diesel, especially when the water (due also from condensation) lays on the bottom of the tanks or it finely floats in the diesel itself.
A quantity of 100ppm of water is enough to start the microbiological growth with the consequent formation of mud (biomass) and corrosion due to the production of metabolic acids by the microbes. The biomass can cause the clogging of the filters that need to be changed sometimes even on a daily basis.
Today the quality of the diesel has changed a lot, due to new regulations which limit the use of chemical stabilizer, causing a more often growth of bacteria, algae and mold that leads to a reduction on the heating power of the diesel and to the clogging of the fuel supply lines and the filters of the engines. With specific treatments that can be easily done on place using specific chemical additives, it’s possible to completely eliminate bacteria and algae, bringing back the diesel to its original status.
In case of prevention or maintenance you can halve the dosage of Bio Control FOT and Clear Diesel ( please see the table below for more details )
Please note that both Bio Control FOT and Clear Diesel stabilize the fuel and increase the diesel life terms up to 10 times, so in case of a long period storage they can be used to keep the diesel qualities unaltered.
